CUSS deployment at London Heathrow completed

CUSS deployment at London Heathrow completedARINC has completed the deployment of Common-Use Self Service (CUSS) kiosks used by airlines at London Heathrow's Terminals 1, 3 and 4. The project began in 2010 after BAA requested a proposal for support services for their existing kiosk estate and the subsequent replacement of all kiosks with new hardware. ARINC recommended a new software platform to improve operation of the existing kiosks, a full maintenance and support package to ensure ongoing operational effectiveness and the installation of 202 IBM 'A' Series kiosks.

In April 2010 ARINC took over the kiosk hardware and installed new IBM CUSS platform software to manage the kiosks and their associated airline applications.

Later that year ARINC began replacing the kiosk hardware with the new IBM units.

“Automated passenger processing solutions are now more critical than ever before,” said Andy Hubbard, ARINC EMEA Managing Director.

“Effectively managing the diverse passenger profile of today's travellers is key to an airport's success and cost-effective and reliable CUSS system is a vital part of the solution. We are delighted to be given the opportunity to assist Heathrow Airport in delivering on their vision of streamlined passenger handling.”

Together with IBM, ARINC has installed 60% of all CUSS kiosks at airports worldwide.
