Border Management Solutions Selected by US Customs

It has been announced that US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has selected Rockwell Collins’ ARINC Border Management Solutions to supply worldwide Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) data from airlines to provide enhanced border protection, control and management.

The ARINC BMS will enable the CBP to enhance border security and passenger processing systems with the use of API and PNR data, which efficiently delivers the ability to review passenger information in advance of their arrival on US soil. API collection, storage and transmission of the data is currently a mandatory requirement for passengers travelling to the US, and is a growing requirement in other countries around the world.

‘Border security continues to be a major area of focus for governments around the world,’ said vice president of Commercial Aviation and Network Services at Rockwell Collins, Mike DiGeorge. ‘We are working with these agencies to provide solutions that improve security for everyone. Our ARINC Border Management Solutions give them the information they need in a format they can use.’

High-availability and secure ARINC Global Network

The ARINC AGN maintains consistency throughout the process of collection, storage and transmission of API and PNR data, and provides a simplified platform for data distribution in a timely manner. As one of the largest private ground-based networks in the world, the AGN supports over 3,000 aviation community participants, including:

  • Airlines
  • Civil Aviation Authorities (CAA)
  • Government agencies
  • Airport facility management

The agreement with the US CBP will see Rockwell Collins’ ARINC BMS used to provide informational systems which both receive and transmit the mandatory passenger data contained within API and PNR.

Currently, Rockwell Collins has border management solutions deployed in the US, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, The Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, El Salvador, South Korea, Hong Kong, India, China and the Caribbean, and is truly a global leader in the aviation industry.
