Rockwell Collins returns to PTE Expo this week at its new Cologne, Germany venue to highlight the work it has been doing on biometrics, cloud-based solutions and airport automation – and how all these components are working effectively together to streamline the experience for passengers travelling through airports.

The focus these past 12 months has been on what passengers and airports – big and small are seeking – the goal towards a complete self-service experience, says Christopher Forrest, Vice President of Airports.

It’s been over two years now since the integration of the former ARINC Airports into Rockwell Collins and the transition has progressed remarkably well.

“Seventeen new airport sites have been added in the last 18 months since the beginning of our financial year 2014 and since we commenced our expansion outside the USA (in 1997) we have grown with 110 airports, internationally, highlights Paul Hickox, Head of Global Airport Solutions at Rockwell Collins “We now have airport systems installed at a total of 154 airports worldwide and significantly, have experienced a 98% retention rate for our airport customers. We attribute that strong performance to close customer focus, integration and our expertise in a range of airport product solutions,” he adds.

High growth regions since PTE last year include Africa with a new award at Dar es Salaam and in Egypt, our presence has increased to nine airports. In Australasia we have won contracts at three New Zealand airports (since November 2015 through to February this year) – at Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland and at Sydney International’s Terminal 2 in Australia, which handles all international flights. Recent other new wins include a contract with Airplan Colombia for AODB, RMS, FIDS, CUSS, CUPPS at six Colombian Airports.
